Welcome to the Slovenian public libraries!

In Slovenia, fifty-eight public libraries provide public library service in more than 1.000 cities, towns and villages across Slovenia. More than twelve million items are made available through their collections. One-fifth of the population are public library members, and more than half use a wide range of their services. Public libraries offer physical and virtual spaces for learning, socialising, networking, meetings and events. They are local communities’ information hubs and promote democratic participation in society.

Library development focuses on innovation and proactivity, social integration, sustainable development, reviewing and updating of business models and strengthening the library network, creation of new services, acquisition of the skills needed to respond to the constant changes in society, and consolidation of library’s role as an active partner in the community.
